16-8mm reducers (joiners) are available on ebay in nylon for a couple of pounds each.

Hose - I’ve seen a few places selling “Marine” hose at 16mm; it’s either that or Goodridge hose if it’s compatible with modern petrol (I suspect it is but an email to them won’t hurt).

I think that Cohline is available in 16mm but I can't afford to have 19.5m left on the shelf unsold! If you get stuck Chris, I will contact Cohline and see if they have a dealer with some stock.

Otherwise, could you adapt in metal?

Parallel thinking, french plumbers use inch sizes (really!!!), no 1 son is a plumber.
A rummage amongst available plumbing parts came up with this alternative with female thread in 7/8 unf and male in 3/4.
The french call these 1/2 and 3/8 respectively, so you need to have the parts to measure :roll:

So, if I understand Goodridge's site, which is not very clear, I now need a simple straight -8 JIC and I can run the line in 8 mm tube.
Is that right, please ?

I am getting completely lost in conversion charts, and Goodridge's site is no help at all.
Demon Tweeks' isn't much better but their paper catalogue has some possibilities I am studying.
Must check the exact dimensions ... wish I had vernier calipers in inch fractions.

Anyway, I have found a JIC size chart and even an explanation of the dash numbers,
apparently they represent the number of 1/16 inch of the outside diameter of the tube :shock:
Which has absolutely no relevance to any of the critical measurements.

No - it's the inside diameter of the hose in 1/16"
Dash 10 is 5/8" = 16mm
Dash 8 is 1/2" = 13mm
Dash 6 is 3/8 = 9.5mm

So you would still need a reducer to get to 8mm

I know, Gavin :oops:
I got so confused with thread sizes I gave up and used UNF which is apparently standard french plumbing sizes.
I took the opportunity to tidy everything up a bit, to the extent that I dismounted the pump and filter from their cradle -
and replaced them back to front, resulting in lots of bubbling noises from the tank when switched on 8)
Anyway, once that was rectified the engine started ok and after warming thoroughly, I dared to blip the throttle ...
instant redline whoopee I think I've cured it.
When it stops raining I'll take the car out for a blast.

I suppose I ought to clean and touch up the paint here and there to finish the job.

I don't believe it :bh
The car is running beautifully, a joy to drive etc.
But the fuel pump has started making a high pitched wining noise.
Does this mean that the car will imminently stop running beautifully, a joy to drive etc ?
Or could it just be remains of crap in the system ... please.

Yep, I was off to a classic car meeting this morning with the pump screaming merrily and sensed after only a couple of kilometres that all was not well.
Turned round and got home hesitantly (in almost thirty years of ownership Dark Star has only once failed to get me home 8) )
I will dismount and dismantle the fuel pump if I have the right size hammer, but I imagine it is not possible to repair it.
So I need a new one and looking in the Demon Tweeks bible it seems the model I need has a 7 bar pressure lockout and flows 135 l/hr at 3 bar.
Does this seem reasonable for 210 bhp?

More than enough, Chris. 90 litres per hour was enough for 215bhp...

Just gone back through my thread for the Scimega and 210bhp allegedly requires 82 litres per hour. Add in a bit of headroom so anything over 100 litres/hour should be fine.

That eBay Bosch imitation is tempting at the price (even for two!)
I presume it is push-on 12 mm in and 8 mm out ?
My fuel line is 8 mm but starts 12 mm so it is do-able.
I presume it is ok to mount the filter after the pump?
