Scimitar graveyard

Post by tanuki » Sat Feb 21, 2015 1:49 pm

I have just recently registered on Pinterest ... carefully selecting my topics of interest
Today I ran into the dreadful sight of a Scimitar graveyard ... which then took me to this article:
http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/2014/08 ... veyard-uk/

Anyone around Ashbourne to pick up chassis & engine numbers for the registrars  ?

Cheers,
Fred
PS. Sorry if it had been posted before on the forum (?) - searched for 'graveyard' but could not find a trace about this article -

Sorry Jim,

Since the article was dated from August 2014, I just checked at the threads from 2014 that came up on my first page of search results
The answers were below indeed ... never mind, you might as well delete this current thread as it does not bring anything new, sorry ;)

Yes, the Aug 14 was confusing - it's been gone for well over ten years!

My god, what a sight and ashame to see so many like that. I had never heard of the place until I mentioned it to my dad, and he said he knew about it and that it's been gone for at least 10 years; we visited the place a few times, the last time would've been around 2007, but the place was gone and the land now used for something else. Apparently the owner of the place died. What a pity as it would've been a paradise for salvaged parts, parts that are very rare to find now; it would've been the first port of call for my dad to find a gearbox instead of trawling through the internet. Does anyone know what happened to those cars?, did the place relocate somewhere else?

I've not read and can't read the members only links but do know the place.
I was told a long time ago that the garage owner, who as well as the ones in the grave yard used to have some running Scims for sale on the forecourt, bought up loads of cheap ones in the 80's at the start of the first classic car boom.He backed them for rapid appreciation to classic status and thought he would sell all of them for good profits. That never happened,so there they sadly decayed.
