For my birthday, as well as the Ladybird book (what didn't come in the post :) ) I received the "Best of '60's Monte Carlo Rallies" DVD which features the "catastrophic" 1965 Monte. IIRC 237 entries, 35 finishers; 2 min 15 secs in, you can see 660XYB (entry 99) disembarking from the ferry, and at 10 min 30 secs approx, the Sabre Six pulls into the control point in the village of Saint Flour in Auvergne.
Slowly building up a history of the car.

I've been looking for that footage for quite a while! Is it this DVD?

Hi Dave,
That's the same DVD.
A friend of mine had borrowed a copy and asked what the Sabre Six entry number was - he watched it and confirmed 660XYB's appearance, so I put it on my birthday present list.
I also have a copy of the Pirelli Marathon but there's only a single glimpse of the car - Richard Prosser driving.
Keep the faith.
Philip

Hi Dave,
The Missus was out this morning, so I had a chance to watch the 1960 and the 1963 Montes' on the DVD, and about 10 minutes from the end of the '63 you will see (what I think is) 42 ENX coming down the hill, no comment from Raymond Baxter, though. Perhaps he preferred to not talk about Reliants, given his opinion after rallying in one. I could have been either of the other two Sabre 4 entrants (6 EUE and 7 EUE) though, as they shared the distinctive painted bonnets.

Brilliant, I have ordered the dvd so much looking forward to catching a few screen shots of the Sabres.

Cheers

I have these photos on my website: http://www.sporting-reliants.com/relian ... istory.htm

They are screen shots from a video that I have been trying to find, so I was hoping that they were on that DVD!

Thanks for all the feedback;
Yes, I also have copies of those pictures, thanks, and YES, they are screen shots from the 1965 Monte Carlo video, as the Sabre Six pulls into the checkpoint in the Hotel St Jacques in Saint-Flour. The video is much more "action-packed", as you would expect.
For the moment I won't replay the 1963 Monte video, I think I'll wait until Dave has a copy and he can decide which Sabre 4 it is!! :)
Cheers,
Philip

Well the DVD arrived today. I've watched the 1963 Monte Carlo rally and it features 6 EUE and 7 EUE. I'm sure it was 7 EUE coming down the hill as it looked as if it was number 172 on the door as far as I could tell.

I look forward to seieng the rest of the DVD and watch the 1965 Monte Carlo to see 660 XYB.

Here's a couple of screen shots.

Top picture is Car 172 (7 EUE) and bottom picture is car 139 (6 EUE) 8)

Second screen cap is great, it captures the atmosphere perfectly.
Thanks Dave

hiya, found this image whilst browsing Autosport.com today + thought it might be of interest. No idea who is driving the (looks like 2) scims or which circuit but
i daresay someone in here will.. :) hope to be @curboro (corona permitting  )

It looks like the chicane before the start / finish straight at Snetterton. I'm not sure what year.

The red Sabre 6 is John Leslie. He still owns & races it still as #4, mainly in the CSCC Swinging 60s.

The white & blue gte will be either Richard or Luke Wos. They sold that on, the car is owned by John Hutchinson jr. & is now dark blue, but I think its for sale.

I'm not sure about the green gt / gte.

Thanks Dave I had notification yesterday that the DVD had been posted but it did not arrive today, disappointed but not surprised that it is 6 & 7 EUE shown. 42 ENX had a crash see photo with broken bonnet and lights.
