Having spoken with Richard's wife Wendy to express my condolences earlier in the week I asked if I may belatedly share the following regretful news.

It is with great sadness that I announce that forum member Richard Vernon passed away July 2018 following the rapid development of a melanoma cancer diagnosed just a few months earlier.

Richard engaged many members here on a multitude of topics drawing from his long term ownership and development of the SS1 he purchased back in 1991 and it is a great loss that he shall no longer be present in the active ongoing of the forum. I for one had countless lengthy discussions with Richard via email although we never had the chance to meet face to face.
My thanks to Darryl Crosby for offering a good home to Richard's beloved SS1 having recently arranged the fair purchase of it and leaving the family happy that the vehicle is now in an enthusiasts hands again.

My thoughts are with Wendy and their two children following the tragic loss of a loving husband and father.

RIP Richard. Will miss you mate, hope there is someone up there to ramble on with about camshaft wear and re-jetting carburettors!

I've just read Darryl's thread, and I was thinking "I'm sure I know that car" and now I've read this, it comes as a real shock, having met Richard a few times at Curborough (and bought some parts from him), I enjoyed chatting with him. My condolences to his family. He will certainly be sadly missed, RIP, Richard.

Thanks for giving us the background Phil.
When people stop posting you don't always know why, but this is very sad news.
Thoughts and good wishes go to his family.
RIP Richard
