Dear old Sir Roger, a Francophile and ex-Scimitar owner IIRC. He always considered his work for Unicef was more important than his acting career. He will be missed by a lot of people.

Sad news about Roger. I used to deliver his newspaper as a boy.

Remember him from very early on in career as Ivanhoe on black and white tv ,a long and distinguished career and a good sense of humour too ,he will be missed.

I always wanted to be James Bond or Lord Brett Sinclair. Roger was both! What a wonderful human being . Never expecting reward for his efforts as an actor or ambassador for UNICEF , always played himself down ,never took himself seriously. A perfect English gent. RIP Sir Roger.

I'd not heard about Roger owning a Scimitar. I too wanted to be Brett Sinclair and The Saint of course, if only for the cars. Actually, I really wanted to be Danny Wilde and drive that Dino.

RIP Sir Roger.

Sad news indeed, Roger Moore was one of very few who could inspire my respect as a person as well as an actor.
At least he will live on in his many films.

From reading his book , My Word is My Bond , he did mention that he bought a Volvo Coupe P1800 as he was starring in The Saint during the 1960s. Although he gave me the impression he liked cars , there is barely any mention of his choice of automobile, apart from when he bought a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow later in the 1970s when he became established in the role of Bond.
