Patrick Gundry

Post by toomanysabres » Sun Jun 16, 2013 9:47 pm

I have just heard from Angie Thompson about the passing of Patrick. Long time supporter of the club, traveled extensively to events in his distinctive green SE5 KAF1L. Was often a 'roving reporter' for Slice. He was still recovering from a serious road accident and getting on quite well the last time I saw him. But has succumbed to cancer.

Never comes to those who deserve it ... always sad when a true enthusiast for the marque passes.

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.

RIP Patrick :-(

a proper Gent, superb Scimitar ambassador and all round good egg. Always had a grin and time for a chat. I remember him having myself, Garry Cox and Ben Gough in stitches at a compies Dinner, funny bloke.

Condolences to his family from the Hughes clan

Yes and for others who may not have met him I'll expand to:- A proper elderly gent of the old school.
I think Jerry & I will be able to add some amusing reflections of our encounters on the Internationals.

Such sad news. The gent with a wonderful impish sense of humour, it was always a warm pleasure to meet him again where ever we were. Somehow he made being a daily driven Scimitar owner a lot less "quirky", unusual, but entirely normal. A fond farewell, Patrick, from B.C. Flat Hat & Mrs Pit Crew.

That's terrible news - he made such a good recovery from his accident. A true gent and I shall really miss our chats. RIP Patrick.

As many have already said (and I'm sure many more will follow), Patrick was a gem amongst men, a gentleman, always wearing a warm smile on his face and always an absolute pleasure to spend time with.

Although I'd only met him on a few events over the years (such is the way with a national club) he always remembered Yvonne and myself and always made time to come and have a chat and to ask how we were.

I was shocked to hear of his nasty accident recently and was equally thrilled to hear he was making a strong recovery from his injuries, to now hear that while he could heal his broken bones, cancer snuck up and took him away is a very sad thing indeed.

On behalf of the Greenly's (and I'm sure the Unwins who are in Scotland already eagerly awaiting the International meeting) I'd like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Patricks family and friends (of whom I'm sure there were countless) and I hope that those in his noggin will pass on these messages to his family as (in my own experience) when a loved one passes, it is a great comfort to know just how much those people were liked and respected

Keep scimotoring Patrick, you'll be missed

Matt & Yvonne
