Hi
Have the dates been fixed for the International next year (2018) as am trying to arrange holiday either side of main dates? Saw the presentation in Durham by Fred, but cannot remember what was said about dates

Cheers

International 2018 - France

Post by tanuki » Tue Aug 15, 2017 10:13 am

Sorry guys, I have been away from the forum for a while - busy with taking care of my oldies  -

Indeed the next International should now be advertised in Slice 8)
The dates are indeed 22-24 June 2018 and the location will be in Fontainebleau, 65 km south-east of Paris.

I do not have the list with me at the moment, however the little poll that I did in Durham showed that about 25 "teams" were already interested
in joining us next year :D I have also received a couple of emails already - e.g. from our danish friends - so feel free to contact me if you
are also interested - rambert.frederic@free.fr -

Let me grab the presentation that I gave in Durham and extract a few illustrations, to give you more detailed information later this evening
Stay tuned !

Cheers, Fred

PS. could a friendly mod make this post a sticky which I will use to communicate further information ? thanks !

Hello guys :D

This is a quick reminder that there are about 3 weeks left until closure of the registrations for the International
and we still have room available for 12 to 15 more cars - at the moment we are 43 people in 23 cars  -
I notice that some of the usual suspects haven't registered yet ... so the figures might jump in the coming fortnight

Anyway feel free to contact me at rssoc.international2018@gmail.com should you have any question,
Looking forward to showing our B roads - even maybe C roads  - to your Scimitars !!

Cheers,
Fred

In the absence of an official report on the International (unless I've missed it?), here are some of Fred's photos - the french participants
Fred Rambert SE5, Fred Hermand Middlebridge, Patrice Beauchant & Jean-Pierre Guillaumat-Tailliet SE6a's

There is a brief photo-report on the Scimitar France site

And to me, there are hundreds
But I thought others might be interested, and I have made a (large) selection.
It looks a great weekend, but at 850 km x 2 a bit far for me.

We managed to do 2,400 miles on our intentional and the trip down to Austria afterwards. averaged 33mpg in the MB - there were a lot of roadworks on the autobahns.

I no longer have a desire to drive very far, partly my age, partly the unsuitability of a half-race Coupé (I wouldn't dare try in the GTC  ) but mainly the unsuitability of the roads and the number of idiot drivers you (try not to) encounter.
At the moment the weather is discouraging too, tomorrow there is a big meeting at St Vallier, not very far but in full sun when it is nearly 40º in the shade I think I'll give it a miss.

Chris, it has been some unusually busy month of July - with work & family - and I ran late with publishing on here :(
Now on vacation at last for one week, so will try to catch up ;)
(fingers crossed ... I have just created a Flickr account to host pics ... but still learning how it works)

Cheers
Fred

Early birds arrived on Thursday, 21st of June

About half the teams were checking in on Thursday, giving them a chance to enjoy a few drinks
while listening to a jazzband at the hotel:

Some later wandered downtown to enjoy more music, since the 21st is our yearly "Fete de la musique" (pics & video from Jerry Ree)
