RSSOC International 2014 - France

Post by toomanysabres » Sat Dec 08, 2012 10:37 am

These events need long advance planning. At the recent committee meeting it was decided to go to France in 2014, usual weekend 20-23 June.
I must have spoken up at the wrong moment! So I have set some plans in motion.
The area chosen is The Aisne. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aisne
I know the area to a certain extent due to competing and officiating on many classic rallies.
I have put the wheels in motion to reserve 50 rooms in a nice hotel I know. I think the hotel has 59 rooms.
There are a couple of camp sites not far away as well.
Absolutely no financial commitment from attendees or the Club required now but it would be useful to get some likely indication of people going.
Copy the list and add your name. We will also be emailing previous attendees of these events.

Ruta finished work in July Peter, and as I only work 3 days (assuming that's still the case in 2014) it's the first time we can go to an International abroad. Nearer the time we might look at a convoy?

I don't think Gerry and Zilla will be going - Gerry's health is not getting any better but they are going to Scotland so there's a small convoy. 8)

I have recently emailed attendees to remind them about paying their balance by the end of Feb as we will be getting our big invoice from the travel company in March.
If you haven't replied in the past couple of days please check your emails.
Regards
Geoff

Note to all. The event is now full. Ferry details will be emailed nearer the time. Hope the weather and euro exchange rate stays good. I'm doing another recce in 2 weeks time and a final run through after the Laon Classic 2 weeks before the off.

People are about to set off. In fact 4 cars already left. Currency rate looking good. 1.2521 Euro to the pound or £0.7984p/Euro this morning.
If using the toll motorway all exits now machines so have a credit card (preferably the zero conversion type & don't use a debit card or it costs you) or folding money to hand. Its 16.40 Euros from Calais to Laon. I have a country route haha. See y'all in Chamouille.
