Saw this on Facebook this evening

1964 Ford Cortina GT Twin Cam Fastback. Designed by Ogle, built by Radford and intended for a small production run. Stirling Moss took the first one and registered it SM 7 in the UK, according to the Ogle Register that car is in the UK and generally believed to be the only one made until this 2nd car turned up unrestored here in the Phillipines. I have no idea how it got here.

I think, in this case the original car looks better, the rear proptions look wrong in proportion with the front. Eg height from wheel arch to wing top. The rear looks heavy and short

Incidentally, SM7 is now on an Aston Martin Cygnet :

Cygnet is about right. Don't know about the duckling, but the rest of it is spot on. What a hideous monstrosity to wear the Aston badge. I suppose these designers have been taught this is 'edgy'... edge of insanity perhaps. *Must* we pollute this admirable forum with such obscene imagery? (and I *don't* mean the Cortina ! )

I remember it being in the news when he bought it for his wife - the Cygnet was a bigger flop than the SS1 but I expect that will only serve to increase their value in the future.

Just looked up prices and there’s two 2013 cars for sale at £30k, which is what I think they cost new?

At least one AM Vulcan owner had the decency of having them drop a Vantage S V8 in :D

The point about the Cygnet is that it wasn't designed to be a stand alone car.
It was supposed to complement the owner's other "proper " Aston so that when that was parked when up in London the Cygnet was used as the City runaround.
They were only intended as very limited production and yes they cost about £30k new and are still worth that today,so hardly a failure as such.
Not that I'd want one...my own billionaire lifestyle is rather different...

They budgeted for 4000 cars pa and made less than 200 in 2 years and quickly stopped production - that’s a failure in my book :D

The real reason for building them was to bring down AMs carbon footprint.

It was a "Group Average Emissions" fudge to reduce the "average" CO2 emissions by the whole of the Aston Martin catalogue. Something based on a Toyota iQ (which emits the same as a frog - slight exaggeration  ) would bring the overall average figure down from "very high" to "just about within the allowable limit". It was marketed as something else completely, of course..

Rumour has it Bentley made a diesel Bentayga for the same reason that "may" have "dropped off" the sales literature..

The car industry works in strange ways.
The Aston thing was of course a blinged up Toyota IQ which was designed to aim for the same market as the Smart (smaller version) but not to have the weaknesses of the latter.it apparently succeeded in its aims but is now discontinued, whereas the Smart lives on...I suppose the current Smart FourTwo is much improved over the original.

It looks like a French "sans permis" - aimed at people who haven't got a driving licence :D

I remember when that car was found in the Phiippines many years ago now.

Obviously had a bit of a makeover since it was found, but it was a great find 8)

And an Australian version has just popped up on Facebook - designed by bodycraft, they never made production (2door and 4 door)
