Retrowarwick on retrorides did a lot of work on one of these (with a RWD CVH Engine in the boot) - he got rid of the fugly wings and spoiler to get the much nicer (IMO) early look.

Looks good but I like the 80's models with the whale fin & wide arches ( don't really need the fin its only a 2.0 pinto )

The beauty is, they’re so accurate that most genuine VW/Porsche bits fit them.

well fooled me at first glance, though I still prefer the flowing lines (and accurate panel gaps) of an SS1 . . . .

Sold my last ss1 to buy a real Porsche ( 944 s2 ) turned out to be a load of s**t, front pulley fell off at 90 mph & lost oil pressure, I spotted the oil light flash on and turned it off quick, saved the motor but sold it a few weeks later, wish I kept the Scimitar !

Hmmm. i remember atttending a black tie charity night. One of the speakers was a motoring journalist and he said the best car he ever drove / owned (cant remember which) was a 944 turbo .....

Owner of a fantastic se5a (nee 5 speed) that's a bit quick (well, feels like it is!!) and now running on lpg

Most motoring hacks I've met have had an old banger and survived driving the press freebies given to them to write about for their main use :D
