Donington this weekend

Post by Simon Drabble » Tue Apr 28, 2015 1:40 pm

Following the problems at Thruxton - the bracket attached to the chassis which bolts on the front upright came off dropping the front wheel - we are running the Sabre Six in a 90 minute race at the Donington Festival. The race is on Sunday and is run by Flavian Marcais under his GTSCC banner. Cars in the race include a Lister Jaguar, several Cobra's, Ferrrari 250 Breadvan, the usual pride of E Types and a few Healeys and MGB's. Hopefully we can get a midfield finish but with rain forecast anything is possible.

In respect to the bracket incredibly only half had ever been welded to the chassis so we took the other side off and rewelded as well - finding it to be a similar story. A good precautionary note to others to check theirs maybe? Anyway luck was on our side and the uprights somehow do not have any signs of damage as a result of the failure.

After this weekend we are back at Silvestone for the mid May HSCC Meeting where again we are in the GTSCC race.

Hi Simon

Good luck from us too. We'll keep an eye out for the results. Hoping to make Silverstone.

Simon, perhaps a calendar of events (and any event write ups) could be put in the competition section?
