Goodwood 73MM
I am delighted to say that my luck continues and my Sabre Six has the nod for the Les Leston race at next March' Members Meeting.
The Revival last year was my first race completed since buying the car last year such has been the number of issues I have suffered but having changed or rebuilt everything including engine and gearbox the "race ready" car I bought might now actually be that!

Re: Goodwood 73MM
We look forward to seeing you competing in March. Do you know whether the Les Leston race is on the Saturday or the Sunday? We ought to refit our original Les Leston steering wheel for the event!

Re: Goodwood 73MM
for those who are interested the Les Leston race at the 73rd Members Meeting is at 10.00am on Sunday with qualifying at 10.45 on Saturday. Assuming all goes according to plan (and after last season I think I am owed that!) thereafter I will be racing it in HSCC Guards Trophy, GTSCC and Pre 63 GT at the Classic.

Re: Goodwood 73MM
Roger,
Tony and I took some pictures of Simon's car in the qualifying practice on Saturday. Some of my pictures attached. I took my Sabre 6 down in convoy with John Leslie (although he was in his E-type) and Richard Voss. What was the result in the race today?

Re: Goodwood 73MM
It was a good day yesterday, albeit very cold.
The results are on the Goodwood website. Simon finished 11th out of about 30 starters. I imagine he will be pretty happy with that.

Re: Goodwood 73MM
It was certainly cold (especially Saturday afternoon) but looking on the bright side, it was dry throughout, and there was quite a bit of sunshine.
I thought Simon did well, he qualified 19th, so to then finish 11th in the race was an excellent result. I haven't had time to sort out many photos yet, but here's some from today's race.

Re: Goodwood 73MM
thanks and good meeting some new faces! Practice was very cold and as a result getting any heat into 2 year old tyres nigh on impossible - maybe time to put my hand into my pocket and buy some new tyres... As others started to get some heat in their tyres and improve their times I had the shower of petrol from a car in front which comboned woth the cement dust led to an opaque windscreen.
Qually time was 6 seconds off my best in the Revival last year and seemed relatively consistent with the other cars who had done both races. Sunday was fortunately warmer and the race sunny, I bogged down a little on start but managed to get a few cars around the first corner and thereafter had a good battle with a couple of WSM Sprites running oversized engines - I had them on the straights but to be fair they had the advantage on the corners and a TR4 that I was chasing all race. So with a little attrition ahead of me and some overtaking I finished 11th. Great fun and a superb meeting.
Good news is that we now seem to be reliable but weight of car and driver still need work! Next outing is HSCC Easter at Thruxton in the Guards race on the Saturday. Thanks again for the support and I have a question - where can I find race proven half shafts?
