Drive it day

Post by petelewis » Thu Mar 21, 2013 7:48 pm

Hi there,
Are there any Drive It Day events in the Sussex/Surrey/Hants areas that I can join.
Met Roger at the Goodwood Breakfast Club a couple of weeks ago.
I'd like to take 'Shabby Chic' out to see others.
Cheers,
Pete.

http://fbhvc.co.uk/heritage-culture-and ... ve-it-day/ - sounds like there will be some gatherings at Beaulieu and Gaydon...?

Hi Pete/Kev :) Good question, and hopefully I have a good answer!
If you're interested in shows, runs etc. in the Sussex area, then I'd recommend an extra club. Southern Classics is a Sussex-based club which is non-marque affiliated (so it's obviously not in competition with the RSSOC). It organises a range of shows throughout the year, and also some runs. I was actually on a run on Saturday, see my report here.

The club only costs £15 a year to join, our shows are open to all to display, but are free to members or £5.00 to non-members. We have a monthly noggin, on the second Monday, alternating between the Owl at Kingsfold and the Crabtree Inn in Lancing (though the next one, on April the 8th, will be the last at that venue, they will then change to the Gardener's Arms in Sompting). Our first show of this year is at Chichester on April the 14th. There is, I understand, going to be a Drive-It day run on Drive-It day - the details are just being finalised. If you wanted to join, you could do so at the noggin, via the form on the website, or you could come to the Chichester show and join on the day (normally the £5 display fee is knocked off your membership fee in that case).

cheers,

....Roger
