The gold Scimitar GT "BRE 296D" was on the cover of Motor magazine dated 16th September 1967 and it is a 3 litre car, however the feature in the magazine featured "HRE 408F", which was a 2.5 litre car 8)

FYM 306C was perfectly normal, one reg number before but two chassis numbers after ...

Here is a puzzle I discovered while searching FYM.
This gold car was obviously a factory demonstrator / press car but its registration number which I decipher as BRE 296D is unknown to me and apparently to Matt.
It is supposed to be a 2,5 but I searched the 3 litres as well ;-)
The car in the article doesn't look like the same registration as on the cover but the scan is not good enough to say for sure.
Anyone know anything about it?

Even with the original to refer to, the registration on the cover car is very difficult to read with certainty, though the BRE2nnD is fairly clear and the 6 is likely correct, so that does seem a reasonable match.

There is a BRE296D in Matt's register - it's chassis number 401, the very first Se4a 3L v6 car. Listed as status unknown, last seen Scotland, 1999. DVLA says not taxed since 1 May 1993 : (and it had become black when DVLA last knew it)

As for the article inside, the visible reg on the car in the middle photo is HRE408F :) This one is on Matt's register as chassis no 5001, the very first Se4c, listed as red and under restoration in 20012. It is on SORN on DVLA, and is shown as a 2.5L.

Thanks chaps, I thought they were probably different cars.
HRE 408F is on file as long ago as 1992 at Curborough, I expect Dave has the original factory pics 8)

Still plodding along, I seem to have twenty-odd cars which are not on Matt's site (though it is difficult to check without the chassis numbers).
Some are quite well-known and/or factory cars.
Here are the first five, does anyone know anything about them?

I have Mick J's name on one of the pics of FWB, no dates, no other details.

Roy, I don't know how you can bear to show that photo.
And it wasn't even an Essex which caught fire ...

FWB 144H was Bev's but is now in my possession.
The rounded arches shown in the pic above where changed for Escort Mexico 'bulges' but have now been replaced with some remade rear arches, cut and splayed to cover the 4HA axle it now has.

Here's a new one, photos from 2017.

It may be chassis 0875 which Matt lists in Germany but with no registration number.

Right, by popular demand (really) I am trying to put some order into the register.
I have updated where possible the straight six cars.
If the car is marked 'P' there is a photo on my site in registration number order
http://www.scimitarfrance.net/scimitarf ... Coupe.html
As you can see some entries are very old and some are very vague.
Any help would be appreciated (that goes for the V6's as well, when I get round to them)
See what you think ...
