Yes, Turner also designed the Triumph Twin engine.
His engineering was far ahead of its time, the two Daimler V8's were incredible for 1950's engines.
The 2,5 will rev over 7000, the only warning in the manual is to not change gear at such revs (as the gearbox would certainly disintegrate).
At Castle Howard hillclimb I held first gear into the hairpin and saw 7000 on the rev counter - see photo.
The 4,5 at its introduction developed over 200 bhp, much like the Porsche 928 20 years later

Thanks Ben, the Daimler makes my eyes water.
I knew I should have put a V8 in mine when I did the conversion but I didn't have the courage (or the bell housing 8) )
The 2,5 litre badge is a nice touch !
James didn't bother with the Scimitar gearbox, he used a Jag box and I'm pretty sure he made a flywheel to suit, he also didn't like stuff in the engine bay, hence the wiper motor etc has been re-located.

The throttle linkage is also a work of art, I'd have put a cable in, but that was too tacky. So rods were made...

It does go very nicely, James also put a Daimler V8 into his 107 Station Wagon using the original engine mounts so the original Rover lump could be put straight back in.

I popped down to the Hants noggin to pick up a rear screen handle and got chatting to a few guys, the next one in June will see the Lexus V8 SE6a in attendance before it's re-spray and James may well bring the Coupe (as it's on my birthday :) )

A recent rummage in the archives came up with these two pics, one of which was not on the site ...

Details should be in the caption line

Well well, we have found the HEARTBEAT car.
Running false plates (345 JUM) it was in the Heartbeat series '92-'09 ep 12,09
It also featured in Practical Classics magazine.
And is now for sale in Bishop's Stortford at 17 500 sterling.

At least one of those pictures (or another similar one) was on the back cover of Slice iirc.
I know Ray (and I'm pretty sure Stuart as well) still owned their Coupe's the last time I saw either of them, but that was about 3 or 4 years ago now.

P.S. The red Straight Six in Bishops Stortford looks very nice 8)

Wasn’t it at Boscombe Down for the low speed trials?

I have some photos of it in 2004/5 IIRC in the concours at Curborough - I'll try to find a moment to dig them out. :)

Stalled project, and owner is asking whether someone's either interested in restoring for him, or maybe selling it (no price mentioned). Apparently mechanically all there with engine(s) in bits and a couple of gearboxes too (the one pictured is with overdrive). Chassis and Bodywork good (though cill look slightly banana shaped to me 😶) and interior present. Looks like it's in the Cambridge area.

There is a bit of interest from both restoring it for owner or purchasing as a project. Watch this space I guess 😀

Right, I made a big effort and updated the register and the site photos.
Of course I'll be quite happy to receive more info to make it all out of date again
