Will they need to be coated internally if used with an iron block ?

Just a thought isnt the water pump and thermostate housing made of aluminium are they coated internally.
I'm thinking,
A good mixture of blue antifreeze should solve any problems :w :w

As long as your coolant is suitable (i.e. non-OAT, but includes a corrosion inhibitor) and up to scratch (changed every 2 years or so) there shouldn't be an issue? They're not directly connected, so any connection would be through the coolant, hence if it's good stuff (Bluecol or Prestone, or similar), there shouldn't be an electrolytic reaction?

I suspect Anodising would be sufficient should a "coating" be needed?

As Phil says, if there is no metal-to-metal contact there shouldn't be a problem.
If there is contact (e.g. Daimler V8 heads to block) no amount of antifreeze will prevent corrosion.
Fernox or similar central heating treatment will though ;-)

No metal to metal contact is possible when using normal rubber hoses from pump to pipe, pipe to radiator etc
