7HA half shafts

Post by scimcity » Thu Jun 07, 2018 6:53 pm

Hi everyone. replacing the seals on my axle but could not remove the hubs, so took it to a garage where the had to use a 30 ton press to get them off. unfortunately is the process the threads were crushed, see photos below . So now I'm looking for some replacements unless they can be fixed which is doubtful, any advice will be gratefully recieved.
Thanks.

Thirty minutes with a rethreading file (if you can find one) or a triangular file will sort them. The vast majority of the thread is fine.
Not at all beyond repair.

Hi
I see your in Accrington,
Not a million miles from me, I have rethreaded quite a lot of these half shafts in my Lathe if you want to pop over.

Cheaper than buying replacement shafts, I also keep new castellated nuts in stock.
Mark
