Side outriggers going on with the aid of the trusty bed-iron.

This bizarre photo is when I realised how much grit-blast media had got inside the chassis. I figured it was a good idea to try and shake out as much as possible before the rear outriggers went on.

It does at least show some of the finished areas seen earlier.

Today's instalment and it's starting to get to be more fun :D . The chassis is finished. It went away for another grit blast and powder coating. I used a compressor to squirt Tetrosyl inside the box sections and started building it up with Goodridge hoses, spax shockers, skimmed discs, rebuilt calipers, kunifer brake pipes and a reconditioned steering rack. No polybushes in those days!

Is this car still around Andy? It would be interesting to know how the powder coating has fared.

Excellent- and quick ! - work.
My chassis looked like that 25 years ago ...
On the other hand those discs don't look very skimmed?
Mine are better, and not skimmed (and the calipers were painted ten years ago!!!)

Wind the clock forward a few years and relocate 100 miles North.
When the dust settles, I get back in the garage and decide the original body will take too much work to repair and I was not happy about a few areas so the late Chris Lloyd comes to the rescue with a replacement bodyshell that is paintless so I can see what I am getting. I also decide that the siezed 2.5 litre engine is too much trouble so a replacement is sourced and rebuilt together with a secondhand gearbox. The bodyshell is suspended/proped above the chassis while the sill steel work is replaced by stainless and the whole underside is painted with a lovely shade of BL 'Pageant Blue'.

With the handbrake installed and the rolling chassis looking good, it's time to drop the body on.

This requires additional helpers. Fortunately a group of wandering musicians happened to be wandering past at the time and they were looking for an edgy setting for their latest album cover. I'll invite suggestions as to what they called it
