Alternator

Post by stevescoupe » Thu Mar 31, 2016 3:22 pm

Does anyone have for sale an alternator for the V6 3 litre.

Hopefully its identifiable from the pic, or one that will do the job is fine.

I think I've got one, I'll double check when I get home.

That looks like the 11AC unit with the external regulator?

The back view, the stud where the output goes has sheared off.

Needs a wiring change to fit that one, Steve(s).

stevescoupe has an 11AC by the looks of it. That means it has the external 4TR regulator, I think (and a relay for the warning light IIRC?).
Gillsfan has a 17ACR. Internal regulator

I think toomanysabres did a crib sheet on how to convert one to the other? Possibly in the Wiki - so Members Only. Info might be out on the wide web though.

To move away from the original 11AC which is a good idea you need to alter the wiring. Much better off with a later GTE one.
