Actually, I have one as well , I think it was standard on late 6A's.

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think it was ever standard on Se6a (or se6b or GTC for that matter)?

You are probably right Roger, they don't appear on the wiring diagrams ; although my car and at least one other I have seen (may have been Fred's?) have a buzzer which was not fitted by the present owners. Is this a fairly simple modification, or does it require a high level of knowledge? Could be a good SLICE article , written by someone who knows?

Somewhere in the proverbial "safe place", I've got one which, many years ago, I fitted to my mk2 Escort. I built it from a kit I bought from Maplins, which IIRC was under a fiver. If I could do it, it can't have been difficult (!) - from memory it consisted of a few components that you had to solder onto a postage stamp sized PCB, which then went into a small case with a buzzer. IIRC, it was connected into the lighting circuit, and the courtesy light circuit, so if you opened the door with the lights on, it buzzed.
It was my intention to transfer it to the GTE, but so far I haven't done, and I'm not sure where the safe place is!

Simple to do all you need is a 12v buzzer the +ve end goes to the light supply and the -ve end to the switched part of the door switch - probably best to add a diode in the circuit.

I think one of the components was a diode; it was back in the last century though, so my memory has faded...
