Alternator 2.5 essex
Has anyone got an alternator for sale or could someone advise make/model as I can find
no label or sticker at all on mine

Wow that's loads of dosh! Look up Ford Granada one on eBay......you can get a 70 amp for 35 quid posted, same thing.

Will probably need a picture or two (front and back) - there is the alternator that was fitted originally and what it could be now. Then there is what might fit

So am I right scims are positive earth and and does that make a difference to the alternator I can fit?

Negative earth.
The difference is the method of regulation - originally it would have an 11AC alternator with an external regulator (4TR I think?) whereas modern units (like the Lucas ACR series, A127 units) have the regulator internal to the unit.
