Post by roymck » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:26 pm

My Son discovered these 2 unknown i think Coupe's on a farm in Surrey.

The first was Originally Gold but now Red 2.5 . Chassis number 425011 reg 230 KY last tax disc 1978

Second was Metalic Blue 3.0 Chassis 400681 no reg number on car

Matt are these cars unknown?

The elderly owner will not discuss the cars and will prefer to let the cars rot into the ground, also found on site a V6 coupe chassis and a SE5 chassis both beyond repair and also the best car find my son has ever made ever, will add link soon. Link viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13292

Sorry Roy, I missed this post (it's been a busy weekend ;)) I'll have a mooch through my register and find out if they are known to the club.

What would be helpful is an address for the farm so Ican write to them and try and get more info or even sell them to a willing restorer (or masochist ;))

ttfn, Matt

Just had a look at a slightly out of date register which I keep on my works computer and can confirm that 425011 is unknown to me, whereas 400681 is known to the register as follows:

chassis: 400681
reg: NKL 131F
colour:Blue
Last known location: Hertfordshire
condition; Unknown
Last known owner: R Harman of Welwyn, Herts
notes: acquired 1992
RSSOC member number: ****

I've anonymised some of this data and do have a full address for Mr/Mrs Harman and a club membership number so I'll chase them up through John U

Looks like the car may have moved though if your son has spotted it in Surrey, not surprising after last being heard of 20 years ago

so 1 new record and 1 out of date record is not bad for a rainy Tuesday ;)

thanks for letting me know of them, Matt

Probably a logical one if your name is (for example) Keith Young?

Yes but I mean the plate must be worth more than the car, and much easier to sell ...
(although everything that I know about british number plates is probably fifteen years out of date, sorry)

Probably is worth a bomb - but the car needs either an MoT or had one within the last 12 months IIRC...about 20 years too late!

Interesting that they have just appeared on EBay and immediately removed . spoke to the guy selling the cars and he sold them almost imediately to a TV production company .

Story is the red one is going to be used as a doner car for a TV rebuild program , old guy has a crashed Coupe sitting in his garage for many years , so TV company is using red one to rebuild car .

Will try and find out what program is unless anybody else has been aproached and knows .

I now have the red one sat on the drive, as expected it's a right mess and the rear of the chassis has collapsed.
