Here is the first updated Coupé list of 2019 !
Not much different from the last version, although quite a few notes have been added off-screen.

I have to say that the survival rate for Coupes is quite staggering my view! Can't believe so many are still alive and accounted for.

Keep up the good work all.

I had the same thought Phil, the relatively low original build figure for Coupes of just over 1000 and the longevity of a composite body shell must help.
Just out of interest I blundered onto a Capri mk1 forum and on there was this ---------'Despite more than a million Mk1s being produced and sold worldwide over five years, today just a few thousand exist and of those, only a few hundred are in good, serviceable condition. Due to the relative scarcity of cars left and the time elapsed since production ceased, spare parts have become hard to find and in some cases, impossible to source' ------------.

I think that’s the case for all Sabre/Scimitars - as a percentage we have a great survival rate.

Recently I was contacted by a Gent who lives fairly close to me, he was having a clearout of a shed and found some parts from a Coupe his father used to own until the owners/council of his fathers garage decided to pull it down for houses.
IIRC he said the council did not get in touch with his father and the car was scrapped.
In the box of bits was a factory workshop manual, and inside this manual I have found an Owners handbook.
I was being nosey last night and on flicking through this handbook I came accross some hand written notes.

I`m certain this is the car that was scrapped??.
BUT the notes state 3lt, this cannot be right??.

That's an interesting find, though a shame to confirm that it was scrapped.
All I can add is that in 1980 it belonged to R Wilson of Lincoln.
Wilson? that seems to ring a bell 8)

You are correct Chris.
The guy who I bought the parts from is indeed a Wilson, just forget his first name, and we are NOT related LOL.
Judging by the Tamworth phone number the Original owner probably bought it straight out of the factory!!,

Anyone know anything about this V8 ?
I haven't time to research it at the moment ...

Looks like it was a nice car "back in the day" too, problem is if it's been off the road since '94, that's before the digital photography era for most people, so any photos are probably hiding in dusty boxes somewhere...

Ah, but I wonder.....

Yes, Jeff Craske is one of the people who has sorted out and scanned his archive, and set up a website here

Just had a quick look, and in the photos from the 1988 National Concours at Lillford Hall it looks like we have a match! :D I've linked the photos below:

A big thank you to Jeff for the photos linked to above :hurrah: :hurrah:

Having said that, I've just remembered that OYT633F is earlier in this thread and currently very much on the road See this post from Jeff. So that may be a false alarm. The car in the ad does look very similar, and both V8s too

Do we have a date for the car & classic ad?

Do you mean doors or door cards?

Yes, I'm sure it's not OYT, though that had crossed my mind too.
Strange coincidence, same colour, with the same wheels - but no vinyl roof and I think no flared arches.
I can't see any date on the Car & Classic site but I don't think they leave old ads long ?

Not just the door cards, the door opening mechanism is different.

Ah, I didn’t think the actual door was different.
