Removing CVH sump

Long story short: rebuilt 1.6 CVH, reinstalled, fired up first time; whoopee; second time, oil everywhere from oil pump gasket.

Assume need to remove sump to release oil pickup to release pump, therefore do I need to unbolt engine and pull forward to get at rear sump bolts, or are there any fairy godmothers out there?

Sorry - you can struggle partially lifting and tipping it to partially drop the sump and try to get the pickup pipe off - or save the hassle and take the engine and box out again. :(

I can't comment on the oil pump aspect of this, however I can say that I've removed and replaced the sump in situ (sort of), subject to a couple of caveats:

1, I undid the engine mounts and lifted the engine a bit, to allow clearence between the sump and the crossmember.

2. Mine is a later lean-burn 1600, with a 2-piece rear engine plate, so it was easy to remove the bottom segment to get access to the rear sump bolts

It's still a fairly awkward job though.
