That pesky optical sensor again!

Good to hear the car's up and running. :)

These optical sensors - don’t suppose they’re used in a Stanadyne diesel pump are they?...

Doubt it Phil
Not heard about it in my research.
Diesel are Compression Ignition, not Suck Squeeze Bang Blow.

I’ve got a GM 6.5TD in the motorhome which has partial electronic control of the diesel pump with “an” optical sensor inside it (and I’ve had a strange cutting out issue). Just wondered if it might be the same one as I suspect diesel timing needs to be pretty good.

The Nissan CAS uses TWO eyes and cutouts in the "Disc".
One tells the ecu TDC and the other reads 360 degrees for firing and injectors.

A sillyscope would show up issues there would it not?

Those are Saab engines Mikey was referring to. About 350bup in stock internals I think.
