Bonnet rubber grommets

Post by AndyM » Fri Apr 13, 2018 10:02 pm

I am trying to find the spiral rubber grommets that stop the bonnet rattling. One of mine has disintegrated and jumped ship somewhere at Curborough, the other looks like it may join it soon?

I'm not even sure what they are called?

I found these Capri ones on eBay but can't really see from the pics if they are right?

Any guidance would be appreciated

I think they are Capri/Escort Mk1/2), hence sadly attract old rotten Ford tax..

Do you just need the rubber bit, or the spring and assembly they’re attached to? I have second hand spring assemblies and new rubber bump stops.

I think just the rubber grommets, I don’t think what they go onto was sprung just a metal head? I will have another look in the morning.

Early car will indeed have static mounting studs.

RPW or QRG both list them on eBay.

RPW are Reliant Parts World. They don’t have any stock of these buffer rubbers despite having them on their website. Which is true of a few other items too. Ask me how I know
But they are a good source for obscure SS1 and Sabre bits. Quite often they don’t have parts listed, but can find stock if you give them a part number.

take care buying just the rubbers, some of the copies out there split as they are fitted for the the first time, as has been mentioned genuine ones are from the ford parts bin which makes most scimitar owners wince when told the price....

Jim, if you are happy to sell a couple of the grommets could I grab them off you at Gurston?
