SST RECORDS, HELP PLEASE

Post by gtcse8 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:33 pm

Hi All

I`m looking to get a record of all the 44 SST`s made if possible. :?:

My insurers are unsure of the value and if I can prove it`s a rare car I can get a decent valuation on it.

My log book only lists it as SCIMITAR TI, which most of us know it has to be an 1800Ti, but when you look into it they group it with the SS1 which has a lower book value. :w

What I need really is Registration Date, Log book description, Engine size, Colour and if you don`t mind the registration. :?:

All help gratefully appreciated. :D

And before you all shout at me, YES I have contacted Mike the registrar but he can`t help narrow them down. :!:

Cheers Mark

Glen had this one for a while Mark and it was number 7 or 10 IIRC - the number was on a plate in the engine bay (1800TI of course )

Hi Mark

Sold mine last year.
SST - No9.jpg
SST - No9.jpg (193.94 KiB) Viewed 1450 times
Was chassis No.9 according to the Vin plate and small ali plate in the engine bay and first registered Aug 1990 if I recall correctly. Engine was Nissan 1.8 Turbo. Reg documents listed it as SCIMITAR Ti. When I asked the DVLA to correct the description they said that the only way they could do that was if they received confirmation documentation from the vehicles manufacturer. Obviously this was not possible due to Reliant's demise many years ago. Dealers paperwork would not be acceptable. Sent details to the Small Sports Registrar when I purchased it in 2010 so should be on the clubs register. Hope this helps.

Best regards and a Happy New Year.

HNY Mike

I collected the well worn Red Velour seats from you a few years back.

I have your old car on file, and your memory is correct.

DVLA are a pain as I found out when I bought the Chevvy Engined GTC, it had originally been a maroon GTE and the only change the DVLA would allow was a colour change to Yellow and the larger engine up to 4.8 I think.

Cheers Mark

Hello Mark,

SST #13 (  ) here, red with 1800 Ti engine, registered in 1990 (I can check the old V5 tonight if you wish more details)
Currently living in France - possibly the only SST outside the UK ? - with french Reg EJ-952-HP
Was previously under private plate H7SST when I bought it in October 2016 (the plate was kept by the PO and was for sale, maybe still available ?)
FYI it has been estimated at 5000 euros - by an independent expert - for my insurance ...

Here are a couple of recent pictures from a meeting with our local club
(definitely the only french club with that many Scimitars  )

Cheers,
Fred (Avon, F)

That's interesting Jim ! The number is SCD220199LF002014 indeed , however the little plate in the front says SST #013
Fred ;)

Body 13, chassis 14. Of course.

That's what's happen when the day is interspersed by too many tea breaks, or the resin fumes get too much.

Oh ... I see, a typical example of "swapping numbers" then
Just need to find who's got my body #014 :?
Thanks guys for pointing this out !
Added to the fact that the french registration system entered it as an "SS1" - they obviously thought that the 'T' was for 'turbo' :pc -
that's an interesting combination :W

Cheers, Fred

Cheers Fred

There are a few combinations of DVLA names out there from Scimitar SST, Scimitar, Scimitar 1800ti, SST, which is very confusing to record compilers at insurance companies and dvla .
You snatched this car from me when I was looking for an SST and would still have the SST reg IF I had got it from AJL`s friend.

I believe it did not have a private number but was actually registered as H7SST when new?, will check this out but I think Glynis and Frank Tweddle owned it.
