What is normal fault on SS1 lights not lifting? Lights work fine. The relay in the main box seem to be clicking and fuses all good. What are the relays for down by the light pods? Could just be dirty terminals on these I suppose same as on our radiator fan switch? Motors not seized as can be wound up by hand as we did for the MOT test. Not that we will be going anywhere yet as we have not got the thing running, but would be handy if they worked right.

Overload trip (red button on the underside of the dash by the courtesy light)?
2 relays should click in the fuse box (only know this because I was chasing a fault recently) when you turn this ignition and lights on.
The relays down by the nose are the actual ones that drive the motors.
Download a copy of Phil Wormald’s headlamp guide - it’s invaluable.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Can’t find the panic button but it’s not dark nights yet. We are replacing the bonnet and the top body panel shortly which goes over the lights. Will have a poke at the relays and multi bungs while we can get at them better. The electric fan switch was just terminals dirty. Car has been stood around for years before we bought it. Let yo know how we get on. Cheers for the info.

Cheers Pete and Phil. Just had another look. Seems as if it has broken off. As all there is left is a hole and what looks like the fixing screws at each side of it. If it’s just a push button I can probably replace it with an aftermarket part. Might have a look behind the dash when we return from our show on Saturday.

Its a thermal trip - don' know what current sets it off but probably around 20 amps.

Maybe it's hanging around loose behind the dash?
I thought I'd also just mention an experience which I had with non-lifting headlights, which I've just posted on my project thread here. Of course it may not be anything to do with your problem, (especially if your red button has gone AWOL!) but you never know
