Warning light terminals

Post by mada85 » Thu Mar 28, 2019 7:29 am

Hello, I am close to finishing rewiring my se6, I am just wiring up the dash area now. I am after the terminals for the warning lights i.e indicator tell tale etc. I think I have found the terminals but it comes with the socket/connector and is more expensive than I ideally want to pay :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUCAS-88SA-l ... ctupt=true

I am aware I could just solder the old plug and wires in or fit an inline plug but Ideally I would just like new pins.

Here are a couple of close up pictures of the terminals, does anyone know the name of them or where I could get some? I think they are Lucas terminals.

Bog standard uninsulated Lucar connectors. Ideally need the proper crimp tool to fit, but can be done carefully with pliers.

My understanding of a Lucar is just a female spade terminal like this

These terminals seem very different to that, am I missing something? These terminals are to take a round pin.

Thank you for your help AJL

you can probably get away with using something like these, they probably come in different sizes. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products ... lsrc=aw.ds

You said it yourself that is a SPADE terminal - that's not what you photographed.

Apologies! It looked like a Lucar to my metal infused eyeball! What you need then (I think) is a different type of terminal known as Lucas RISTs. Your terminal looks like a crushed circular terminal, otherwise I haven't come across one before.

Just in case anyone else is after these in the future I tried many different round terminals including Rists and had no luck of getting anything to fit and lock. I spoke to a few people selling the terminal & connector kits and none said they would sell the terminals separately. I bit the bullet and bought the Connector and terminals and they are correct and identical to the originals. I'm still none the wiser to the correct terminal name though
