Chassis number SE6

Post by andymyn » Sun Sep 16, 2018 4:25 pm

Finally picked up my Scimitar. Requires a lot of work but it has a repaired chassis that's been galvanised and the best interior I've seen. However no engine or gearbox, not really a problem as I've acquired both and am rebuilding them. However I'm trying to work out the details in the chassis number. it is SCD 1903589M005481 on the plate but with 044001 on a plate on the left hand side of the engine bay. Anybody care to translate please? Thanks

Andy

S = Europe
C = UK
D = Reliant
19 = GTE
03 = auto, non-PAS, RHD
58 = Trafalguar Blue
9 = 1979
M = December
005481 = sequential chassis number (one of the early 6b - 27th I think)

044001 is the type approval number for the 6a or b

Amended because I got it wrong :oops:

Haven’t you bought an Essex?

Won’t fit in that car without modifying the chassis mounts!

Thanks for the info. I'm just in the process of removing the body so I'll dry fit the engine/gearbox first then fabricate mounts as and when. No doubt I'll need so more help/advice as I go!

I take it you prefer the Essex to the original Cologne?
