Wiper control unit

Post by TrevorG » Thu Sep 06, 2018 5:51 pm

Apologies again. Don't know if this is original or retro fitted by previous owner, but there is a lucas black box wiper control unit fitted on the inside of driver's side of central console, all wiring looks original. However!, Yet again no mention in workshop manuals and/or wiring diagrams. Anyone know if it was on the later 6a and the 6b?

I've now found where the rats have chewed through the loom and hopefully it's not too serious as most circuits are connecting true. Onwards with my increasing boxes of bits!

Its the delay unit - press the wiper on/off down and he wiper will do a intermittent wipe press down again to stop it - hold it down until the wiper is almost back where it started and you will get a single wipe. If you want rid of it fit the two plugs together and it will be bypassed.

ps - it is on the 6b / GTC wiring drawing - I don't know if the later 6A had it fitted as well

Many thanks guys.....I'll download the 6b wiring diagrams as well and use that. Interesting how many changes were made in the last years.

The Se6/6a parts list has an updated page T10 - there are actually two later versions, T10/1 or T10/2, both of those feature the 6DA unit. Unfortunately they don't give a chassis number of introduction, but my October 78 build car doesn't have one, while the Feb 79 build car does.
