P plate SE6 Freswick

Post by Alan SS1 » Sat Aug 10, 2013 5:18 pm

Spotted a blue 'P' plate so is that a 6? standing on wooden blocks in a drive in Freswick as I headed to the Car Show up in Orkney

shame the auto carb system failed and made starting 'interesting' yesterday AM and then idle speed jammed at around 2000rpm when warm :-(
had a look today and yep its broken again (my Araldite/MIG wire 'bodge' has only lasted 18 years  ) but not going to take it apart up here as don't have the book and really don't want car to be stuck up here as I head south again on Monday

on way south on Monday the rear bumper etc had been removed and down off blocks at rear so a 're-build' in progress?

and got a 'replacement' autochoke fitted, now to repair the other bit of plastic in the autochoke

My turn to go to Orkney!

It is still in the drive and looks like it is under restoration, bumper is back on but blocks are still there.

I have the reg if it is of interest to the registrar and it is not known to the club. It is PMB ***P if you want a quick check. Sorry for the long distance photo but I did not want to stop and walk into the guy's garden! :)

I saw this car again on our trip to Orkney earlier this month and it looked like it was back on the road.

It was good then to see the article in Slice 263 from the owner detailing the purchase, restoration and upgrading. Sorry she is not on Scimitarweb as it would be good to let her know I enjoyed the write up and information on the car. Maybe if Terry picks this up he can pass on the comments if anyone else adds to this thread.

I have some vague recollection of an interesting article in Slice a few years ago about a woman restoring a blue SE6 somewhere up north. I wonder if this is the one.

That’s the very same, sitting on blocks passenger side tyres flat
House doesn’t look lived in, left a note in it to see if he fancies shifting it on

Well i have been digging a bit further on the car.
Unfortunatrly the owner passed away somewhere around 2 years ago.
Does anyone have the article from slice 263 that they could post up?

I spoke to her on the phone a couple of years ago. She was an ex-army engineer, very knowledgeable and capable about cars and engines and a really lovely person. I'm sad to hear she died.

Mods can remove if you think this is against forum rules but I think it would be fitting for this to be available to those interested.

Wow thanks for that
A V8 i did not expect
It would be a crime for that car to lay there forever more
Sounds like her range rover would be a fun tool too

No problem. She sounds a formidable character and was clearly highly skilled.

I would like to think someone would take on her "Little Un" that she lavished such care and attention on.

Keep us posted if you manage to get anywhere with this.
