Rear speakers

Post by Scammell23 » Sun Oct 09, 2016 1:08 pm

Hi,

Whilst removing my rear interior side panels I revelaed a speaker mounting hole on each side of the bodywork behind where the rear arm rests are. I wonder if this is commonly know?

I'm going to install rear speakers, however as the interior side panel is curved slightly and fitting a speaker grill would be impossible, I was thinking if drilling a neat cluster of holes to let the sound through once I refit the panels.

Anyone else got experience of this?

Regards,

David.

The top-spec interiors included a Phillips 4-speaker radio/cassette, with speakers in the 2 door locations, and 2 in the rear positions by the passenger armrests

On the Graham Walker parts list this is illustrated on the third page of the "optional Extras" section

I've managed to get 165mm Infinity Kappa's in there and as you suggesrted drilled a grid of holes to let the sound out and as it's on the slope you don't actually notice them and they sound pretty good IMHO

It'll be a nice upgrade to do when my scimitar is finally finished.

The mounting holes are easy to find, they are part of my project thread

The problem on the GTC is that the hood mechanism only gives about 5mm clearance, so most grilles are too thick.

I think it would be more practical to put the hood back even so, Andy
Seriously, that is looking very good.

The preceding examples look lovely, however it's worth remembering that David has an Se6a, so the rear panel is different, and the factory speaker installation would look like this:

Thanks :) It's the mulberry car, and it's factory-original black leather - here's the front:

Hi are the rear speaker grilles the same as the front ones turned 90 degrees?
