Intermittent electrical problem GTC

Post by philipmasonfrance » Tue Sep 25, 2018 1:32 pm

Latest. Don't talk too loud, but I think, to quote Inspector Clouseau "The problem is solvèd". I got a good used distributor from QRG, put it back in the right place - more by luck than judgement - and have now completed about 4 hours high-temp running without an issue. I had already changed the electronic module, which looked horrible when I took it off. Crusty wires and connector. Also the short loom which didn't look any better. Inspecting the old distributor closely, we found that there are two or three tiny buffers under the moving advance/retard plate. One had come out allowing the plate to cant over, the rotor to touch the stator - and mess the whole lot up. Must have disturbed and cracked the servo pipe during the operation because I had no brakes. 7 euros of new pipe solved that too. well pleased. Thanks again for all your input. Phil
