Se6 oil pressure light??

Post by Datsundrew » Tue Dec 05, 2017 12:22 am

I've been trying to order the right adaptor to fit the oil gauge to the Mercedes engine, think I've got there, but it occurred to me there is no oil warning light? Did any have them fitted, and if so, where?
I've got the Rev counter in bits to put an alternator fed one into the original pod, and I'm thinking I'll mount a light in there whilst it's in bits. The thought of my partner taking any notice of an instrument other than the fuel is scary, so I'd like to have one.

All GT/GTE/GTC had oil pressure gauges - no warning light. Simple enough to fit a tee piece and pressure switch?

No, no oil light.

Might be worth considering putting one in the warning light cluster where the brake pad wear light is, as that won't work unless you are prepared to search for pads with the relevant wiring?

may be me, but I can't work that out?

Diesels use a feed from the alternator for revs as they have no coil.

Ah yes! of course - my mind was in a "warning light" frame of mind, so was on completely the wrong track!

Thanks everyone for your input. Finding a plain segment in orange where the pad light would be ideal, I might have to find and old triumph pod to get the segment. Anyone got one they wish to part with? Maybe I could cut up a lucozade bottle?

Thanks Mike! I came up with this in the end, looks reasonable, and it's bright :D
