Fitted some wood effect dash veneers today that I had bought from QRG...
Thought about the wet transfer method but didn't want to pay too much on my old car!...

That's what my MB has at present but I don't like the black below the centre panel - which is why I have just taken shipment of AJL's paint dipped panels - they are better than I thought they would be - brilliant.

I did consider the wet transfer type, but didn't want to go to that expense at present.peter freeman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2017 8:25 pmThat's what my MB has at present but I don't like the black below the centre panel - which is why I have just taken shipment of AJL's paint dipped panels - they are better than I thought they would be - brilliant.

I've always been a sucker for a wood dash, was planning to do it on mine but it's premature, looks really good tho, was dere as far as I remember (£175 ish) lately I've fancied doing the dash panels in tan vinyl to match the door cards and bits, but QRG don't stock that, does anyone know where I could source the vinyl to match ??

I have not yet found a match anywhere. The other point is that covering the panels is going to be a pain, due to all the intricate bits. A far better solution is to use Vinylkote which can be matched to any colour and sheen that you want.

There is no point trying to teach a pig to sing. It doesn't work and it annoys the pig.

Yeh I figured as much, maybe with a vacuum pack thingy, yeh the Vinylkote would be a lot less of a pain, depends if the texture matches, thanks

Vinylkote doesn't fill the original texture like paint would, it just recolours it.

Will post some pictures later Terry. In the meantime, you might like to ask Peter Freeman for his opinion, as he has just fitted his own set.

Nearly finished just a bit of titivating to do - like mounting the cruise control somewhere else as I don't want to drill the new dashboard for instance. Got to go to the dentist this morning so will perhaps not be finished today.

Very nice, looks good. I just had the Tribunal Courts find in my favor yesterday against the Department of Work and Pensions over stopping my Disability Living Allowance money last year and have also awarded me the Personal Independence Payment Daily Living Component and Mobility Component so may be looking for a new dash when I get the backdated money they now owe me.
