Going to have to make a chassis repair, axle and tank are out already. If I need to remove the rear diagonal rigger one side do I need to brace anything?

Not really as you are unlikely to be out driving in the car but when my diagonals failed I replaced them with tubes - gets rid of the water traps in the U sections

Or if your worried stick a lump of wood to wedge it up until it's welded.

I've got to do this on both sides of the SE5a. I don't anticipate bracing anything. The things they connect (main chassis rail to rear tube) are (should be !!!) very substantial. I doubt that the ones on our SE5a have been doing any bracing for some years. They seem to be providing a framework for filler and underseal at the moment
