Using the Search function? It's changed a bit..

Post by philhoward » Sun Feb 14, 2010 11:45 pm

I did have a little play around with the Search function in the new forum software and found that it needs to be treated a bit different to the old one.

Using the search
SS1 rear brakes
gives a lot of results, but not necessarily the ones you want. There are a couple of ways to get the best out of it

1) Search only in a specific forum
Using the Advanced Search allows you to look in just the relevant forum which will pin down more relevant results. Also don't forget that if the posting was in the relevant forum, the model might not be mentioned, so using
"rear brakes" and clicking on the SS1/T/Sabre forum will bring up the results as you expect

2) Use the conditions
Conditions means looking for (for example) ALL of the words:
+SS1 +rear +brakes
will only bring up results where all 3 words ARE mentioned. Sometimes (as mentioned in method 1) the model won't be there, so try without the model (SS1 in this case) and just look in the relevant forum.

Any other problems, let us know and we'll see what we can do to help.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.
