How to upload a picture

Post by erikscimitardemon » Fri Aug 10, 2007 1:59 pm

*** As of 28/6/2017, Photobucket have changed their terms and conditions to block 3rd party use (such as this forum) - we would advise NOT using photobucket at this time ***

if you Use an external site, like photobucket.
These provide the correct tags to paste into your message ('BB').
A tag should look like this:
{IMG]http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu26 ... GP0283.jpg[/IMG}
I made a deliberate mistake in replacing all '[' with '{' otherwise you'd see the picture below.

This is a small size clickable image to a bigger size original.
Example is the GTC picture.

you can Use a picture from the Gallery.
You can use your own pictures, or someone elses.
The Gallery is here:http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/app.php/gallery a link is on any forum page in the right top corner of the pages, between 'FAQ' and 'Members'.
Choose the picture you want to use. Click on it. Now you get a big picture. In the Details section below you can copy Image URL code from the top box:

http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/app. ... 387/medium

press the button that looks like a mountain in sunshine (above this text box) and you should see the "IMG" tags - like this but with normal square brackets {img][/img}

Paste the address you copied between those tags - {img]here[/img}

And you should see the picture

You need to edit your signature in your profile; easiest way is to link to a photobucket image like I have below because the file size can be much bigger

Also, in the same area, you can edit your avatar image, which appears to the left of your post. This is found in User Control Panel/Profile/Edit Avatar where you can then add an image which should conform to the following requirements
Maximum dimensions; width: 80 pixels, height: 80 pixels, file size: 5.07 KiB.

V3.2 Post July 2017 instructions:

Drag and Drop

1. Select your picture from (in this case) my Windows Explorer window
Drag and Drop Stage 1.JPG
Drag and Drop Stage 1.JPG (154.51 KiB) Viewed 1551 times
2.Drag it over to the box where you normally write your text, then let go of the mouse (Copy and Paste doesn't work - I tried it :))
Drag and Drop Stage 2.jpg
Drag and Drop Stage 2.jpg (153.5 KiB) Viewed 1551 times
3.That should then show the filename in the box that will now appear below
Drag and Drop Stage 3.JPG
Drag and Drop Stage 3.JPG (26.63 KiB) Viewed 1551 times
4. Click on the "Place inline" button to add it into the reply box - handy if you want to add text around it
Drag and Drop Stage 4.jpg

If you're unsure at any stage, see what the "Preview" button gives you.

If you miss out step 4, it will still show the pictures - but below any text and with a white border

If you don't want to drag & drop, instead of steps 1 & 2 above - simply press the "add file" button below the text box and find the picture in your files (steps 3 & 4 are the same)
