I see that Flickr is being bought by smugmug/fantastic fox.

I think smugmug charges for third party hosting?

And here’s the reason for Photobuckets back-pedalling - a new CEO who has reinstated all third party links and introduced a far more sensible pricing structure. Too little, too late IMHO but time will tell.

https://www.bizjournals.com/denver/news ... lions.html

......it surprised users worldwide by starting to charge $399.99 for hosting a large number of photos and being able to post them on third-party blogs, ecommerce sites and elsewhere.

John Corpus, Photobucket’s CEO at the time, defended the change, saying a subscription model was necessary given the disparity between the online ad revenue Photobucket’s website generated and the expense of hosting billions of images its 90 million customers stored with Photobucket.

But the pricing, especially the $399.99 a year service that enabled posting images on third-party sites, didn’t convert a meaningful number of Photobucket users into paying subscribers, Leonard (Ted Leonard, Photobucket’s new CEO since March 18) said Thursday.

It's strange, but I used to gets loads of email spam from photobucket, when it was free, since the ransom debacle, it has stopped completely, almost overnight! Maybe it's because I haven't logged-in since, so they've given me up as a lost cause?

Anyway, I guess the key question in relation to this is "is that a permanent price, or just an introductory offer price, which will return to normal (or at least a higher price) after a period of time?" (do you get the feeling I don't trust them? )

And I bet that’s the basic package with a million adverts, half of which will be asking for more money to go ad-free!

Hmm, prices offered on PB website to me at least
$4:03 a month for 2GB $5:83 a month for 20GB and $10:33 for 20TB, still cheaper than their original punt at $399.99 a year mind you
Presumably people will then combine their various PB accounts into one and take the best option for them, think I've about 6 using different emails to get around their size cap that they used to have, and all say add free!

Not me - trust once lost, is not easily regained. As far as I'm concerned, even if they restored the situation to how it was before, I wouldn't go back.....

I shan’t be going back either. Why would anyone?
There are so many other options nowadays. What a way to kill a business :w
