Security Cerificate

Post by Old and Slow » Wed Jun 07, 2017 12:42 pm

I received a message a few moments ago when logging in, saying the site's security certificate expired yesterday, so we might be vulnerable.
Hope everything is OK!

Trouble is, since this morning, every time I make a posting on the forum I get the message and have to negotiate through the warning - could discourage me. Of course, some might say "Great, stops Old & Slow posting his usual...

Not just me then, I've had them every time I log on to read any new notifications. Only on this forum though.

Well, this note is partly a bit of a test to see what happens. Currently I get a fairly low key warning (same as Peter, I suspect) on logging-in to the site, that the connection is not secure. I think this is due to the fact that the site uses http rather than https - this has been reported for a while in a number of different threads.

I've actually just posted a reply in another thread and that worked ok, so it looks as though I'm not getting any extra messages - it may of course depend on how high you have your individual security levels set?

[edit - yes, this note posted ok too]

The security certificate failed to update properly and caused this extra error. It was a precursor of a system failure that brought the whole server down later this afternoon. Should be back to normal now.

Yep, everything working normally for me now.
Thanks for getting the system up-to-date and back on line.

Thanks for getting that sorted Ian, although I didn't get the certificate error messages, I did get this afternoon's system error. :)
