Peter, something looks to be amiss at your end - you've just posted in an ancient thread from 2010, which in itself is not the same old thread you were posting in before, which was from 2012!

Right, I've extracted today's posts about today's issues into a new thread, which hopefully looks better :)

And further to that, I was about to post a note of my own mentioning that whenever I post a reply to a thread (Firefox on W10) I get a "Connection Timeout" message displayed. Checking by opening a new tab, shows that my post has actually been correctly posted, the page seems to be getting stuck attempting to return to the forum? It also happened during the splitting/merging process on these posts

I picked the wrong thread as I have been unable to navigate the site very much. I still get notifications like the one for your posting Roger
http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk:7080/sgwrs ... 9&e=414099
but clicking on it leads to a blank page which just times out - everything was ok until today.

Just tried opening a new tab and get the same result as you Roger - same W10 and Firefox but as I said it was ok until today and Firefox has not had any updates in the last few days.

Yes, clicking on that link gives me a "connection timeout" message too.....

I have the latest posts link as my FF start page which is why its been rather confusing today. I can work around the problem by opening the latest posts page in a new tab then when a notification comes in I just see what it was about and then open the thread from the latest posts page rather than clicking on the link. The latest post page works ok once it is selected in this way and the refresh also works on it. A bit of a fiddle but it works.

I'll have a look at this tomorrow. I have spotted that the links giving a timeout appear to have the form http://scimitarweb.co.uk:7080/...... or similar. I need to find where the :7080 is appearing from. This is a port number and that port is not open so the link will never connect. Going directly to http://scimitarweb.co.uk/ works perfectly.

Ah, I see.

I use "View Unread Posts" as my saved entry point, which means I don't need to worry about notifications. That is still working fine, until I come to post a reply or perform a moderator action, when I get the timeout. Just seen Ian's last, so posting this as a test :)

Yes, for info Ian, if it helps, the link that timed out after making the last post was:

https://scimitarweb.co.uk:7081/sgwrs/vi ... 09#p414109

Which has a 7081 in it, so it does look similar
