It can actually be quite useful that it *doesn't* automatically pull up words containing the search term as part of them - imagine if you wanted to find a reference to a car with a registration ending in UGH, so you typed in the search string "UGH" - your search results would be flooded by words like through, enough, Curborough, and so on....... :)

The search indexes are not migrated with the forum software and the forum database because their size usually causes problems in the process. Instead, they are created afresh after the migration by a process that can take a significant amount of time. In this case the re-indexing of the forum stalled at some point when the index was incomplete. I hadn't spotted that there was a problem until I came onto the forum today and saw your posts. The re-indexing has been resumed today and has now completed with an index of 217,979 words and 8,474,969 word-to-post relationships. 8)
