Scottish Support
Hi All
I'm poised to buy my first SE5a. It is in Scotland. I am not. Some would say more fool me.
If I do buy it (online auction, less than 3 days left) pretty blind. Would anyone be willing/able to help me give it a once over so I can drive it back to Preston?
Even better someone scope it out for me first to check it's not a complete duffer? Can show gratitude in Irn-Bru or other wise for your time.
If i just throw caution to the wind and do it solo, would you recommend taking a fire extinguisher, as a precaution?
Cheers folks!

Re: Scottish Support
Which part of Scotland are you buying it from, give us a location and we can try to get a contact with someone local who might be able to help?

Dundee. eBay. DD52PJ.
Zoomed in on the pictures and spotted the postcode PH14 9ST on a Ministry of Transport document, that places it in Abernyte, Perth at some point in the mid 90s. It's tax wasn't renewed then so i'm assuming it was from around that time.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322001960287 - I'm assuming the comradare and general bon-homie of the board and fellow Scimitar lovers extends to not nicking other people auctions
(please!!! I've very excited!!)

I haven't seen the car in the flesh, so it's difficult to advise on value, but I'd advise a certain amount of caution. Personally, I must admit that there's no way I would consider driving a car (any car) that's been off the road for at least 22 years, for any distance. It's likely to need some decent recommissioning before it's safe to to use (that's safe for the car, as well as the occupants!

Ahh that'd be brilliant, thank you! If I win and end up towing/collecting it myself I'll shout you a chippy and you can have closer gander if you fancy?

Nope, they are about as far away from this (100 miles) as I am (125 miles) - but then all distance in Scotland is relative!peter freeman wrote:Don't Mr and Mrs Hoole live in spitting distance.

This is definitely tnarg8's territory. Good luck on the auction OP and I would second Roger's comments!

I've abandoned the 'drive it home' idea since speaking to the seller, apparently blue smoke and overheating on tick over.

It does look like a decent project though, if it doesn't go to high.
Fortunately I've got enough projects.

Re: Scottish Support
Had walk past, sitting on flat bed so too high to see inside properly, paint tired, not surprising! Slight crazing front of bonnet. Just usual good clean up needed, no idea mechanically?
