Hi, I am in Gloucester City. I like to think I know the SS1 and SST range well. I have restored a Bond Bug, a Robin Mk1, a Rialto II and a Kitten, including resparays. I consider that I am skilled in electronics and fibreglass techniques.

Anyone nearby with a problem is welcome to bring the car in to me for help.

I am happy to fetch parts from hereabouts and can store them for reasonable periods. I have parking available for one car. However, I would not like to give an opinion on whether a car is worth buying or not, I go in with rose tinted glasses as a rule and get bitten on the bum!

I can also help once in a while in Brittany. There is storage available for a car or two for a reasonable period, under cover.

Location is Illifaut, about an hour from St. Malo port.

My location is between Leicester and Loughborough. Also travel to East Sussex about monthly. I know SS1 (not turbo) and GTE reasonably well. Have manuals and reasonable set of tools to diagnose and cope with most problems.

Well I'm a little new to Scims, but if you need welding or general mechanics then thats fine. I'm also an electronic engineer so vehicle electricals aren't to much of an issue. I have engine cranes, and plenty of sheet metal forming equipment, big folders and guillotines etc.

I'm near to Glastonbury.

Oh' and I'm also one of the 5 official recovery tractor drivers at Glastonbury Festival, so if you take your scim there and get stuck I'll be your man, just look for a 6506 John Deere!

Anyone stranded or needing help in Weston super mare.
I have reasonable knowledge of the GTE having owned one for several years. I have a trailer so could get a sick one home for someone for a few beer tokens :D
I have a garage and loads of bits and bobs for crude repairs
or maybe just pop in for a cuppa and a chat you would be very welcome.
Cheers Phill.

scimaritan in south London

Post by oldspeed » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:05 pm

Hello

I'm living in Switzerland and just received the club application form. I'm currently looking for a clean SE5 or SE5a in UK. Is there by chance a scamaritan for the south London area that could check a car if required (of course I would pay for the costs)

Thanks

Well, my problem is memory.
I often look at jobs I've done on the car and think
"that's neat, I wonder how I did it".
Within these limits I have extensive experience of V6 Coupés and SE6a V8,
a reasonable toolkit and some ability in chassis/suspension tuning and electrics.
I also have friends in the trade locally who are real mechanics and are happy to help with real cars.
In any case I would be delighted to meet up with any Scimitar people who happen to be in the vicinity - I know very well how to find the best bars and restaurants where you won't get ripped off!
See you sometime on the Cote d'Azur?
Chris (and Louiza, but she has a Calibra so what can I say)

Can offer short-term storage on the drive, and mechanical and electrical assistance. The workshop is currently furnished with arc, OA & MIG welding, pillar drill and a 5 x 24 lathe, so bodged and not-so-bodged repairs can be done. Could also collect and store parts for a short while.

hi
i'm in bonnybridge, near falkirk, in central scotland.
would love to assist any fellow scimitar owners where i can. i might not be much help but i'll try my best to help.
i work abroad quite a lot but give me a try anyway if you need anything, even if it's just another pair of hands you need
so if you're any where between glasgow edinburgh and stirling, give me a shout.

cheers,
Frank

Hi,
I'm in Sussex and am reasonably confident with most pre- 80's vehicles. Although I know ancient Austins and GTE 5a's a little better. Have some facilities and the kettle never sleeps!

Regards, Phil
