Towing dolly hire in the Surrey area??

Post by jibowski » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:54 pm

Does any member in or around the Surrey area have a towing dolly they'd like to hire out or know of anyone who may be able to?

I need a wheeled dolly to raise the front two wheels off the ground to be legal (i only have a 1.4 lupo so a trailer/car on the back is too heavy for a light car like a lupo)

Cheers jim

AFAIK, if you're worried about being legal, you can't use a dolly for anything other than removing a broken down vehicle to a point of safety?

According to this you can use a dolly that has brakes and suspension to tow an operational car, provided that the brakes on the wheels of the car that are on the road are operational?

with a maximum of 20 miles per hour on all roads other than a motorway which is 40.

legislation for using towing dollies is complicated and I would recommend you read the gov site Jim has added before using one. What do you intend towing with a lupo? i would think most vehicles would be be over the maximum permissible towing weight even on a dolly

Way outside the weight limit then, but if it's not far I'd probably do the same.

If it was someone local to me I'd offer to stick it on my trailer and tow it or put it on an A frame rather than see them kill an innocent unsuspecting Lupo's clutch :-)

I'll move this to scimaritans as I think it's better suited there.
