The bonnet & boot pins and roof aerial (?) are quite distinctive - does anyone know of it?

Telephone number in the ebay ad if the Coup Registrar wants to find out more, like chassis number etc. etc.

So what car is the back end belonging to, can just be seen in front of the fire engine (unless the ebay advert shows more, I didn't look)

Just to revive an old thread, here's how SML 500F looked in the '80s

So, would I be correct in thinking that this was your car back then, as mentioned in your other thread? If so, it would be interesting to hear more about it :D

Was indeed my car. Bought in about 1982 from a guy who worked for Haymarket Publishing (Autocar, Classic and Sportscar etc.) It was in that condition when I bought it but it seemed to run OK.

But after a month or so the engine started to run rough so I pulled it apart and discovered the timing gear had moved a tooth or two... But that was a good excuse to do up the engine - 60 thou overbore, Power max 11.5:5 pistons, Vulcan stage 3 heads, DFI 5 carb, K&N filter and a pair of long stainless manifolds. I've no idea what power it had but it was faster than the Quattro that was the hero car or the time and it wasn't until Sierra Cosworths came long that met its match. The LSD made a big difference too.

I also did a bit to the interior and gave it a respray:

In the early 90s SML 500F then went over to Ireland and did pretty well in historic rallies:

No idea what happened to it after that but it appeared on e-bay in a bit of a state in 2016. I bid it up to £2k but someone wanted it more....
