New owner of a SST

Post by Jonnybiker » Sat Apr 06, 2019 8:10 am

Hello, I have just bought a 1992 sabre as have had a Fiat X19 / MG TF 160, few retro hot hatch’s. This seams to tick the boxes, also being a rare! Here’s some pics see what you think? Needs some work, but hopefully will be a nice project.

As Jim says - in front of the accelerator pedal. If that's snapped, it’s possible (just) to manually release it via the pivots which are the top of the bulkhead - look upwards with your head roasting on the accelerator pedal. You might want to remove the speaker to get an arm up there..

I contacted the chap who was selling it on eBay and he said he sold it and it wasn’t as described in the advert, it needs lots of work!! Then he said someone attempted to steel it and insurance wrote it off. Then I saw it and won it!!

Yes I have keys, lots of wires pulled out and back of the ignition barrel is gone! Side lights were on, not sure what’s the best to get it running? New barrel and key? Light switch is also broken

Light switch is easy - MGB, Metro Mk1 or Range Rover Classic.

I think you might need a copy of Peter Freeman’s wiring diagram though.
