Awright troops...
Newest new member here, just taken stewardship of an SE5A that needs some lovin' care and attention.
I'm based in central Scotland just a half hour outside Glasgow.
The car is a horrific shade of blue, painted by some blind kids with wallpaper brushes or crayons, by the look of things. I believe it *used* to be maroon at one point (colour inside drivers door) although it may just be a replacement panel. The interior is....there. More or less. Needs a damn thorough clean, a centre console, and some stitching on the vinyl (or better yet, replaced front seats. I was thinking Saab, MX5, Alfa GT...?)
Also needs an engine. And a gearbox.
As for the condition of the underside...that's still a surprise. Haven't had time yet to properly investigate it all, but I was assured by the seller it was perfect :w
If there's anybody near Lanarkshire that can swing by for a nosey and tell me what a basketcase I've got it'd be much appreciated. I'll provide the tea and chocolate Hob Nobs if you can provide the knowledge.
Thanks,
Sith

Good luck and welcome. I've had my 5a for a few years now and probably the most enjoyable / rewarding car I 've ever owned.

Maroon ? Might be Highland Purple, appropriate !

Is we sideways yet...

Thanks Mikey :D
Always liked them, never had one before. Pretty sure this one is gonna take up all my spare time for the foreseeable future, and probably all of my patience too...

Yeah that's sounds about right Rebel, alarm bells were ringing when I picked it up, but I'm a sucker for old metal. Or fiberglass, as the case may be

The photo of the car I have on the register shows it as maroon.

Welcome, Sith.

Which part of Lanarkshire are you in? I'm in Renfrewshire, with a 5a. There aren't that many of us in the west, but we have our local noggin on the second Monday of the month at The Abbot's Inch, just off the M8*. Pop along if you can.

* Having said that, I know that the pub has either closed or is in the process of closing - so the venue will most likely change by next month!

Thanks scimjim.
Thanks Elizabeth's Dad, reckon I'll be returning it to something close to its original colour :)
1969 - maybe we bought our cars from the same guy!? :D
Thanks tom, looks like I just missed this one but I'll try for the next one. Let me know if the venue changes!
I'm in deepest darkest Lanarkshire, in Motherwell.
Anyone else close by?

I'm about 30 miles away, in Houston, so perhaps I'll try and drop by sometime - it'd be a good excuse to give my 5a a stretch of her legs... I'll send you a private message if I get an opportunity, or you can let me know what times work for you.
