Back in from the cold!
Hi all, returning to club membership again after 14 years!
I used to have a '78 SE6a as a daily driver around 2003/4. I loved it until it stopped loving me by failing an MOT to the tune of a £900 quote to fix it by the venerable QRG!
I've wanted another one ever since and finally gave in and bought a locally advertised 1980 SE6a, but this time with a V8 conversion.
It's MOT'd and running but is really a running resto.
Look forward to getting involved in Scimitars again, and as my enthusiasm by far outweighs my knowledge I'll no doubt be wearing out the search function and asking all the dumb questions known to man.
Any words of advice gratefully received!
Rich

Welcome back to the Club and to Scimitar ownership, Rich! As you're in Southampton, you'll find there's an active local noggin near you - details here. Also please keep us posted about the car

Welcome Rich, I am sure the combined knowledge of the Club will be able to assist with even the most dumb questions, from personal experience they have answered a lot of mine !

Hi Jim,
I don't know if it belonged to Badger at some point, I bought it from a chap called Mike in Fareham. Before that it was owned by a Carl Phillips, and before that a Gordon Ruscoe.
I haven't got the photo upload skills yet but will try and do that this morning!

Yep, Carl was “Badger” on here, so there should be some history of the work he did here.

Well, Badger kept good records of the build, I think I have every receipt for every part during his ownership. I'm not an expert but it looks like a very good conversion. 11 years on it needs a few bits doing now but hopefully it'll be back out and about this year!

Thanks Ford - I followed the instructions on the forum but the images didn't work - I couldn't work out what I'd done wrong!?

Judging by what you did in your post, I suspect you found some out-of-date instructions. In the wake of the photobucket debacle, there is no longer any need to use external links to post photos - it can be done using drag & drop direct from your computer. Full instructions are in this thread (last two posts)
